DIY Epn
Making Your Own EPN Site for Submission
Internet Affiliate marketing is all about sending visitors from your site to another site where they can buy a product which you will get paid for.
Without any doubt the biggest advertiser of products to be sold has to be Ebay and that’s why you need to be part of the Ebay Partner Network (EPN). Sure their are other way’s of monitisisng your sites ; Amazon, Adsense, Clickbank affilliate products etc, but by far the biggest and best is Ebay.
The problem is that Ebay is fussy who they allow to promote their products! and this can make it difficult if not impossible to get in. Strict guidelines need to be met and even then if your face doesn’t fit you wont be accepted.
Now you will see already that we specialise in designing sites and assisting people through the process and for $ 299 we can take care of most of the process for you. But what if you can’t afford that or simply want to do it yourself? Well lets see if I can give you some tips:
- You need to find a good domain name that you can build a site around. Whether it needs to be an aged domain is a moot point. some say it has to be but Ebay examine the site and domain name and check the Whois, if you have bought a domain name recently that is 2 years old and has 100 backlinks from sex sites, do you not think they could see that? If you have a domain name that you bought some time ago then that’s perfect, if not we have to take our chance with what we have.
- Design a site using the wordpress installation on your cpanel or whatever system you are using, the point is don’t design one using an autoblog software package such as CPMage. Ebay can see this, it’s ok to use the Mage when you’re in but for now just use the basic wordpress installation accessible through Fantastico or the easy Installer in your cpanel.
- You need to write around 20-25 articles. Spin if you want but just check the article afterwards, that they make sense, are they in good English with good grammar. When articles are spun they tend to lose their meaning in parts, if it doesnt read well to you then it wont to Ebay. If English isn’t your first language then get them written for you ( try Fiverr.com). Make sure they all relate closely to the site theme.
- Make sure you have a privacy and Contact page and put your e-mail address on the contact page. Make sure it’s the same one that you apply to EPN with.
- Ebay need to see that your site adds value to them, that they can monitise the site, they are looking for sites that can sell products and that people will visit and buy. They tend to like hobby sites where the hobby has plenty of products that are advertised on Ebay. Do your research, make sure there are 1000+ products for sale within your niche. Simply having revews won’t cut the mustard either, mix the content up, review things by all means but add personal touches, give advice, stories, mention products but vaguely ( for instance, I made my breakfast using the Brevill mk3 family toastmaster circa,2010 is way over the top).
- Make sure you have NO ads on the site of any sort, not even ebay links, Just don’t do it!
- Get family and friends (fb friends if need be) to visit the site before you apply. Get them to leave comments and reply to them. You can go into your dashboard and change the dates and times of these comments so do this and spread them out over time. This also adds to the traffic.
- Make sure the site is indexed by Google before you apply. If not and it’s an aged domain the previous cache may show up first or the Whois details stating it’s for sale. Submit the site to numerous article sites, social sites etc, just as you would a new site.
- Any e-mails that form part of the application should be the same and should be the same as the address the domain is registered to under Whois and the domain isn’t set to private. Same goes if your tying in your Pal account and Ebay account. All the same and the same address.
- Make sure your domain is registered for at least two years into the future. If it isn’t then go to your domain and register it for that period, it only cost a few cents/pennies.
- Check and double check your application and give plenty of information, a correct contact phone number and address and if you have a chequered histiory with Ebay then don’t tie the application in with it.
- Then sit back and wait to be rejected!! but don’t worry, just keep appealing and asking for why you have been rejected, they won’t tell you but you might wear them out !
Good luck and if I can be of any help please feel free to contact me for advice or to give you feedback on any site you have designed.
